What do I do myself and what should I outsource?

Even under financial constraints this is a crucial question. Creating a product on the Internet and selling it is no different than in the physical world: say I write a book and I find a publisher… do I do the marketing? NO! Do I do the graphic layout? NO! Do I do the book cover? NO! Do I do the prining? NO?

There are specialized people, artists, services, companies for each section - and while it's good for us to know what each stands for so we can brief, so we know what to expect and to avoid being overcharged… - WE focus on what WE are good at (say writing) and the printers, book cover companies, graphic artists, illustrators etc focus on what THEY are good at. Everything plays together for the common goal: the PRODUCT optimized to SELL… and then come in the marketers, sales reps, book stores etc etc… an offline example I've gone through many times in the past, just to illustrate an ATTITUDE we need to adopt as professionals in whatever we do.
I have an extreme respect for professional work if well done - and I am glad to pay for it… 
In return, it frees my time up to do what I am good at… and in the end it helps everybody to put food on the table and continue working in their preferred niche, achieving excellence in it and being PROUD of good results and recognition. It's the original principle of… T E A M W O R K - and it's a good principle we should respect!

We need to rise beyond the concept of a "Wild West Web" (didn't I get that one right… ) with its endorsement of piracy and plagiarism to the professional standards we grew up with in our 'normal lives'. We need to build an Authority which reflects values like Truth, Integrity and Quality . . . and if you think about the transparency of the net . . . the earlier you start with it the better. Instruct your kids accordingly - this is no joke.
